Waverley 1

Found this clip of Bear Grylls in the Scottish Highlands sleeping in a dear carcass for warmth. I thought it was kind of funny.  Bear kind of has the same ideals about nature that the Highlanders do; that it’s there for him to use and he uses all of it.

Anyways, I’m not really crazy about this book. I find it kind of strange how Edward hardly ever talks, the author just focuses on the other character’s dialogue. Also there isn’t very much dialogue so far. It’s all really lengthy descriptions about politics or something.  The author does have a somewhat humorous voice though, on page 78 we see just how preoccupied Edward is with the Romantic. He’s so wrapped up in the idea of what’s happening to him, he doesn’t really stop to think “oh wait this is happening to me in real life, I’m not reading a book.”
